Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy applies to the app Genau: Learn German A1-B1, developed by Claudiu Sararu.

2. What data the app collects

The Genau app does not collect personal data from its users.

• We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app (the first name requested during onboarding is optional, used only locally for the greeting, and never sent anywhere).
• There is no user account and no sign-in.
• We use no analytics, no ads, no advertising SDKs and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
• We do not access your contacts, location, photos, camera or microphone.
• Your progress, exercise answers, streak and other in-app activity are never transmitted to us.

3. Data stored locally on your device

Your progress (learned words, review statistics, streak, and settings such as language or text size) is saved locally, directly on your device, using standard iOS and Expo mechanisms. This information stays on your phone and is not transmitted to the developer of Genau.

The core content - nouns, rules, lessons, the grammar guide and the audio pronunciations - is bundled with the app and works without an account and without an internet connection.

4. In-app purchases

Genau offers one optional one-time purchase, "Genau Pro", which unlocks additional content. The purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; Genau never receives or stores your payment details. Purchase management (history, restore, refunds) is governed by Apple's policies, not ours.

5. Internet and third-party services

The app uses no backend of its own for accounts, sync or analytics. For the "Genau Pro" purchase we use RevenueCat to verify the purchase status with the App Store; this service receives an anonymous device/purchase identifier, not personal data.

The app is distributed through the App Store. Apple may process data related to downloads, installs, purchases, crash reports or diagnostics, according to Apple's policies and your device settings.

6. Audio pronunciations

The audio pronunciations in the app are generated with neural TTS (text-to-speech) voices; they are not recordings of real people. This disclosure is also available in the app under Profile → Licenses.

7. Support emails

If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information only to answer your request or to fix reported problems. We do not sell, rent, or use support emails for unsolicited marketing.

8. Data sharing

Because the app collects no personal data through normal use, we have no personal data to share with third parties beyond the purchase verification described in sections 4-5.

We may disclose information received by email only where necessary to comply with the law or to respond to a valid legal request.

9. Data retention and deletion

The app has no user accounts and keeps no personal data on our servers. Local data (progress, settings) can be erased from Profile → Reset progress, or by uninstalling the app. For support emails, you can request deletion of your conversation by writing to claudiu.sararu@gmail.com.

10. Children

Genau is an educational language-reference app. It is not built to collect data from children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

11. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access, correction or deletion of personal data you sent us directly, for example by email. For such requests, contact us at claudiu.sararu@gmail.com.

12. App Store privacy label

For the current version of the app, the App Store privacy label declares:

• Data Collected: Purchase History only - the purchase-verification service (RevenueCat, see section 5) processes your "Genau Pro" purchase status under an anonymous identifier, used for app functionality (unlocking what you bought, preventing fraud) and aggregate purchase analytics.
• Data Linked to You: None - purchase data is not linked to your identity.
• Data Used to Track You: None. Tracking: No.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app changes, for example when new features are added. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of this page.
